The Butte College Board of Trustees invites the campus and community to a groundbreaking ceremony for its new science building and planetarium on Wednesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at its main campus at 3536 Butte Campus Dr. Oroville, CA 95965. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the site of the future construction south of the Allied Health Building, next to the newly renovated Math Building. Refreshments will be provided.

"We are so excited to break ground on this project," said Butte College Superintendent/President Virginia L. Guleff. "With the new state-of-the-art planetarium and industry-standard laboratories, our students will have ample opportunities to learn, explore and prepare for their careers."

The upcoming sciences building, announced in January, will feature a state-of-the-art planetarium, sustainable facilities, upgraded classrooms and collaborative study spaces to support hands-on teaching and peer-based learning. This project is funded by Measure J, a $190 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2016, and the state's Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant.

"We are very grateful for our local voters who supported Measure J and made this investment in our community's education possible," said President Guleff.

The sciences building was designed by JK Architecture Engineering. Construction will be led by Modern Building-Clark/Sullivan Construction Joint Venture. Don't miss your chance to witness the start of this landmark project.
